The Pennington County Sheriff's Office is excited to launch the new IGNITE Program in our facilities and we are looking for a motivated individual who can multi-task, manage projects and gets excited about making a difference in our community.

The IGNITE Program Coordinator is responsible for program development, implementation, coordination, and operational oversight of the Pennington County IGNITE Program at the Pennington County Jail. The IGNITE (Individual Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education) Program offers comprehensive education, job certification and post-incarceration work opportunities and assistance to incarcerated individuals in an effort to reduce recidivism and improve public trust and community relations.

The IGNITE Program Coordinator will operate with broad decision-making authority and autonomy under direction of the Sheriff’s Office goals and philosophies. This position works closely in collaboration and under the direction of the Jail Commander and Captains and is an essential part of the leadership team.

The IGNITE Program Coordinator typically works daytime hours Monday through Friday. Hours during the workweek may vary to accommodate site visits, stakeholder meetings and implementation efforts. Some in and out-of-state travel may be required.

  • Develops, implements, and oversees new and ongoing project management to include IGNITE programming and support.
  • Facilitates multi-disciplinary meetings including elected officials, public safety and behavioral health stakeholders, operational staff, and community members.
  • Prepares presentations, statistical reports, and professional/technical writing documents.
  • Provides guidance and assistance in implementation of the IGNITE program and evaluates program efficiencies and effectiveness based on applicable data, research, and best practice.
  • Maintains contact with all community stakeholders to ensure implementation adheres to all requirements and recommendations
  • Reviews data related to the operation and performance of system to identify areas for improvement.
  • Works with governmental and community partners to clearly identify system needs and leverage resources to meet these needs.
  • Provides strategic input and directs implementation of program policy and procedure.
  • Attends trainings and meetings as assigned.
  • Match incarcerated individuals with community resources to help them continue their education and skill development.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
