HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Building Maintenance
Black Hills State University invites qualified, self-motivated candidates for a Building Maintenance Specialist for the Facilities Services Department.
OverviewThe successful applicant will maintain the heating and cooling systems of the campus, perform preventive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance and repairs to Heating and Cooling and Boiler systems, and coordinate HVAC work with other maintenance activities.
Responsibilities- Work on all campus Heating and Cooling equipment
- Boilers & boiler controls
- Water heaters
- Basic energy monitoring on central and remote systems
- Coordinate the above HVAC work with all other facets of maintenance
- Ability to lift heavy loads, climb ladders, stairs, and scaffold.
- Be able to work long and late hours should the need arise.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to make decisions independently and to determine when consultation with supervisor is required.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public.
- Must have computer knowledge and technical knowledge.
- Knowledge of local and national mechanical and building codes.
- Basic knowledge of electrical controls.
- Experience with managing workflow processes and balancing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Required: Minimum of three years of Heating and Cooling work in the field or three full years of school or a combination of both.
- Acquire a license within 6 months of employment.
- Preferred: Several years of experience in boiler controls.
Periodically will be required to work at the Rapid City Campus. Typical office hours are Monday through Friday 7:00AM-4:00PM. After hours ON CALL will be required on a rotation basis.
