Sanford Health is hiring a caring and responsible Medical Assistant to support patient care in an ambulatory orthopedics setting. The role involves collecting health status data, following care plans, communicating instructions, and performing point‑of‑care tests in a fast‑moving outpatient environment.

• Collect subjective and objective health status data from patients or caregivers and communicate data to healthcare provider.
• Follow through on the patient’s plan of care under the direction of the provider.
• Communicate the provider’s written instructions for care to the patient or caregiver.
• Participate in care for patients across the lifespan in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow‑up.
• Obtain vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, observe and report patient signs or symptoms, and perform point‑of‑care testing.

• Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program.
• National certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (MA). Preferred U.S. certifications include CMA (e.g., AAMA, CCMA, CMAC, NCMA) or RMA (e.g., AMT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment; re‑certification as required.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and Oregon do not require state registration. South Dakota requires MAIII registration; if not registered at hire, four months to obtain registration and UAP registry required.
