Unit Details:

• 64 beds across 2 floors (Ortho, Neuro, Surgical, Med Surg mix)

• Ratios: RN 1:4 (PCU and Med Surg), CNA 1:8

• Patient Types:
  Post-surgical (urology, bowel, abdominal), Ortho (joints, trauma), Neuro (CVA/TIA interventions, seizures, tumors, craniotomies, spinal surgeries), Medical (COPD, CHF, renal/hepatic failure, pneumonia, infections)

• Pod staffing: 2 RNs + 1 CNA for 8 patients

• Support:
  Dedicated charge RN (non-patient load), flex nurse daily, RT, phlebotomy, hospitalist, nurse clinician

Orientation:

• 2 days classroom/unit education + online learnings

• 2 preceptor shifts on the unit

Scheduling:

• 36 hrs/week, 6-week schedules

• Weekend rotation:
  Up to 4 of 6 weekends (Fri–Sun)

• No mandatory call, but may be placed on call if covering extra shifts

• Holiday RTO not accepted; must request prior to offer

• Time off: 1.5 weeks max (must extend contract for full 13 weeks)

• Blackout:
  Aug 1–18 annually (Sturgis Motorcycle Rally)

Requirements:

• Active RN license in South Dakota

• Minimum 1 year Intermediate/Stepdown RN experience (first-time travelers accepted if >1 yr experience and EPIC required)

• Must live 100 miles outside facility footprint

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required

• EPIC EMR experience required

• Skills:
  
  Telemetry interpretation, trach care (no fresh trachs), chest tubes, wound vac care, NG/JP drains, line management (PICC/Midline/CVL/PIV), TPN/tube feeding, blood transfusions, drip titration (Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed ≤5 mcg)
