Job Description

RESPEC seeks an Engineering Intern to join the Mining & Energy Division's Cavern Geology group in our Rapid City, SD location.

The intern will be expected to work 40 hours per week during the summer with an option to work an average of 10 to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.

Primary activities include large data set 3D modeling, data analysis, well hydraulic and pressure calculations, and engineering tool development based on Python and VBA. Supplemental activities include permit and report drafting, numerical analysis with specialty software, and well and drilling design/planning. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering staff in these areas.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be working toward a bachelor of science or advanced degree in geological, mechanical, mining, civil engineering, or related field
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with spreadsheets, scripting/programming, and 3D modeling software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to be self-motivated
Additional Information

Compensation: Hourly wage depends on education and experience, range is $21-25/hour, plus statutory insurance requirements.
