Assistant Preschool Teacher

Starting Pay: $14.00 per hour

Location: Rapid City, SD

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 5:30 pm

Shift: 8 hours

As a cornerstone of our childcare program, you ll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families every day.

• Ensure the safety and security of each child under your care by implementing and adhering to YMCA safety procedures, as well as state and local codes.
• Engage in purposeful programming designed to meet the developmental needs of each child; work with lead teachers to implement age-appropriate curricula that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with children to foster a supportive, inclusive environment where they feel valued, respected, and empowered.
• Interact with YMCA families daily, providing ongoing positive dialogue and support to build strong connections between families and the childcare program.
• Participate in continuing education through annual training opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices and educational trends.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment; ensure childcare spaces are well-maintained and properly equipped for a successful day of learning and exploration.
• Support the implementation of the YMCA Social and Emotional Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, to develop children s social and emotional skills.
• Complete opening and closing procedures as required and accurately document incidents or accidents that occur during your shift, following childcare policies and procedures with diligence.
