Overview
Starting Pay: $14.00 per hour
Location: Rapid City, SD
Hours of Operations: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 5:30 pm
Shift: 8 hours
Join our vibrant team at the YMCA of Rapid City and embark on a rewarding journey as a Childcare Assistant Teacher. In this role, you ll play a crucial part in the lives of young learners, ensuring their safety, fostering their growth, and contributing to a nurturing environment where they can thrive. As a cornerstone of our childcare program, you ll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families every day.
Responsibilities- Ensure the safety and security of each child under your care by implementing and adhering to YMCA safety procedures, as well as state and local codes.
- Engage in purposeful programming designed to meet the developmental needs of each child and implement age-appropriate curricula with lead teachers.
- Build positive relationships with children and maintain a supportive, inclusive environment where they feel valued and empowered.
- Interact with YMCA families on a daily basis, providing ongoing positive dialogue and support to foster strong connections between families and the childcare program.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment, and ensure spaces are well-equipped for a successful day of learning and exploration.
- Participate in social and emotional learning initiatives, including the YMCA Social and Emotional Curriculum and Conscious Discipline, in daily interactions with children.
- Complete opening and closing procedures as required and accurately document any incidents or accidents that occur during your shift, following all childcare policies and procedures.
- Ability to contribute to a nurturing environment and support the holistic development of children (mind, body, and spirit).
- Willingness to participate in annual training opportunities and stay up-to-date with best practices and educational trends.
- Commitment to safety, attention to detail, and collaboration with staff and families to promote a positive learning experience.
