Whatwill you do?
As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in JVM‑based frameworks, you will own and maintain critical parts of Click House’s Data engineering ecosystem. You will:
- Own the full lifecycle of JVM data framework integrations, from core database drivers that handle billions of records per second to SDKs and connectors that make Click House feel native in JVM applications.
- Build the foundation that thousands of Data Engineers rely on for their most critical data workloads, impacting real‑time analytics platforms and observability systems worldwide.
- Collaborate closely with the open‑source community, internal teams, and enterprise users to set the standard for performance, reliability, and developer experience.
- 6+ years of software development experience in building and delivering high‑quality, data‑intensive solutions.
- Proven experience with the internals of at least one of the following:
Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Kafka Connect, or Apache Beam. - Experience developing or extending connectors, sinks, or sources for a big‑data framework such as Spark, Flink, Beam, or Kafka Connect.
- Strong understanding of database fundamentals: SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and familiarity with OLAP/analytical databases.
- Strong proficiency in Java and the JVM ecosystem, including deep knowledge of memory management, garbage‑collection tuning, and performance profiling.
- Solid experience with concurrent programming in Java: threads, executors, and reactive or asynchronous patterns.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of JDBC, network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), and techniques for optimizing data throughput over the wire.
- Passion for open‑source development.
- Prior contributions to open‑source projects and active engagement with the OSS community.
- Familiarity with Click House or similar high‑performance data platforms.
- Working knowledge of Python (Pandas, PySpark, Airflow) and ability to contribute to Python tooling when needed.
For U.S. locations, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. Premium market ranges may apply in the Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and New York City metro areas. Compensation reflects what we reasonably believe to be the minimum and maximum pay at the time of posting. Salary may be higher or lower, and ranges may be subject to future adjustments.
