Tamarack Day Camp is seeking a creative, enthusiastic Ceramics Specialist to lead our ceramics program and inspire campers through hands‑on art experiences. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with children, enjoys teaching artistic skills, and wants to be part of a warm, energetic camp community.
Position OverviewThe Ceramics Specialist is responsible for planning and leading engaging ceramics lessons for campers ages 3–15. You will introduce campers to clay techniques, glazing, and creative expression in a safe, fun, and age‑appropriate environment. This is a highly interactive role where creativity and leadership go hand in hand.
Responsibilities- Plan and lead daily ceramics activities tailored to different age groups and skill levels
- Teach basic and advanced ceramics techniques including hand‑building, sculpting, and glazing
- Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are used safely and responsibly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming ceramics area
- Encourage creativity, confidence, and self‑expression in every camper
- Collaborate with counselors and supervisors to support a positive camp experience
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and special camp events as needed
- Experience working with clay or ceramics in an educational or recreational setting preferred
- Comfort working with children in a group setting
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Creative, patient, and enthusiastic attitude
- Ability to plan lessons and adapt activities for different ages and abilities
- Must be reliable and able to commit to the full camp season
- Camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- All 39 days of camp are required for employment
- No weekends
