Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Service Line Manager, the Specialty Outpatient Pharmacist is responsible for compounding and dispensing prescribed pharmaceuticals, checking all medication prior to dispensing and deliveries, enrolling and monitoring prescription adherence for patients referred by pharmacy liaisons for Specialty Care Management, and performing comprehensive medication reconciliation with the electronic medical record during prescription verification. The pharmacist serves as the direct point of contact to provide pharmacy clinical support for all enrolled specialty clinics.
EssentialResponsibilities / Duties
- Prepare or supervise preparation of medication.
- Verify patient information before filling a prescription.
- Compound prescribed medications, package, and label.
- Perform quality checks on prescriptions for correct dosage and drug interactions.
- Dispense medical supplies as prescribed.
- Record prescriptions dispensed, including poisons, narcotics, and other restricted drugs.
- Enter prescriptions into the pharmacy management systems (QS1, etc.).
- Complete enrollment and ongoing adherence monitoring for patients referred by pharmacy liaison for Specialty Care Management.
- Perform comprehensive medication reconciliation with electronic medical record during prescription verification.
- Provide pharmacy clinical support for all enrolled קינדער clinics when needed.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including customer service representatives and pharmacy technicians in accordance with federal, state, and other applicable laws.
- Check all medication prior to dispensing and deliveries.
- Provide training, orientation, reassign staff as needed for optimal operations.
- Coach staff by identifying training gaps, assigning progressive tasks, and assisting in career development.
- Contact physicians and PBMs as necessary to process a prescription.
- Complete prior authorizations and appeals.
- Maintain a professional and confidential environment for patients at all times.
- Comply with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements, including DEMPOS billing, dispensing, and training.
- Provide drug education and counseling to patients as outlined in department policies and procedures.
- Provide in‑service education to pharmacy staff, students, необывна nurses, physicians and other practitioners as needed.
- Attend and participate in department staff development conferences or other staff development activities.
- Develop and manage clinical programs and initiatives related to pharmacy accreditation and contracting requirements.
- Serve as on‑call pharmacist to field after‑hour calls from patients/providers.
- Develop competencies related to the position.
- Maintain professional and specialized competency through continued education (attend at least one regional or national meeting per year).

- BS in Pharmacy or Pharm
D from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Massachusetts by the hire date.
- Two to three years relevant experience, infusion preferred.
- QS1 experience preferred.
- Salesforce Health cloud experience preferred.
- Specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy procedures, systems, and equipment.
- High level of analytical ability, organization, personal management skill, and focus.
- Experience revising and/or implementing information systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and telephone communication skills.
- Professional conduct and demeanor.
- Proficient with standard software in a healthcare office (MS Word, Excel, web browser, etc.).
- Knowledge of the federal 340B program highly preferred.
- QS1 experience preferred.
- Experience with specialty medications preferred.
- Immunization experience preferred.
