Join our mission-driven team and make a real difference in the lives of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As an Activity Leader, you will help shape dynamic music, vocational, and recreational programs that support student development both on campus and in the community.
Boston Higashi School practices Daily Life Therapy®, a holistic educational model emphasizing structured routines, emotional stability, physical fitness, and music as pathways for students to reach their fullest potential.
Salary: $52,220 (entry level)
Hours
- School Year: Monday-Friday, 1:00 p.m.
-9:00 p.m. (220-day schedule) - Vacation Program (approx. 8 weeks/year): Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.
-4:15 p.m.
- Lead and support engaging music, vocational, and recreational activities in both Day and Residential settings.
- Create hands-on learning experiences that build practical skills, independence, teamwork, and social development.
- Implement the Music Education Program, an essential part of Daily Life Therapy®.
- Support students in community-based job placements and campus vocational programs.
- Collaborate closely with teaching, residential, and maintenance staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in daily routines, physical activity sessions, and team meetings.
- Plan and run fun, structured activities during school vacation weeks.
- Request and manage music-related supplies and equipment through written submissions to the Master Teacher.
- Continue developing expertise in Daily Life Therapy® philosophy and current Music Education practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (required)
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum (preferred)
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Comfort participating in active, movement-based programming
- Valid driver's license
- Flexibility for occasional weekend or holiday shifts
