Overnight Awake Instructor

The Overnight Awake Instructor plays a critical role in supporting students during the overnight hours by ensuring their safety, comfort, and readiness for the day ahead. This position supports students with daily living routines, prepares them for breakfast, and assists with a smooth transition into the day program. Working under the guidance of the Overnight Directors, Assistant Director, and Residential Program Director, the Overnight Awake Instructor helps implement the principles of Daily Life Therapy while fostering a calm, secure, and supportive residential environment.

Key Responsibilities- Attend to students' personal needs while teaching daily living and social skills in alignment with Daily Life Therapy
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and supportive overnight environment
- Build positive relationships with students in a group residential setting
- Remain awake throughout the shift and complete student safety checks every 15 minutes
- Document and communicate students' overnight performance and any concerns accurately and timely
- Maintain consistent communication with residential and day program staff to support student continuity of care
- Serve as a positive role model for students through professionalism and behavior
- Participate in student activities, including physical exercise and movement-based activities
- Maintain student logs and documentation throughout the shift
- Manage and oversee students' personal belongings with care and organization
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with parents and colleagues
- Attend required orientations, trainings, staff meetings, and in-service sessions
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and administrative guidance
- Support a respectful, collaborative, and positive workplace culture
- Complete additional duties as assigned by Division Directors or the Principal
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive, professional attitude and ability to collaborate with a team
- Reliability and commitment to assigned overnight schedule
- Degree not required
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred but not required
- Meaningful work supporting students' growth, safety, and independence
