Pediatric Forensic Nurse Practitioner-BSCC

Overview

Pediatric Forensic Nurse Practitioner-BSCC role responsible for forensic medical exams of suspected sexual and physical abuse of children and adolescents aged newborn to 17, as ordered by Riverside County law enforcement and/or Child Protective Services. When necessary, orders laboratory work and imaging to better assess potential abuse. Conducts follow-up medical exams as necessary. Conducts medical exams of children entering the foster care system.

• Perform forensic medical examinations of children and adolescents aged newborn to 17 for suspected abuse, as ordered by law enforcement and/or Child Protective Services.
• Order and coordinate laboratory tests and imaging when needed to assess potential abuse.
• Conduct follow-up medical examinations as necessary.
• Examine children entering the foster care system as part of ongoing medical assessment and documentation.
