YOUR IMPACT

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with concrete work, including forming, pouring, finishing, and repairing sidewalks, curbs, gutters, driveways, and other public infrastructure.
  • Operating basic hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
  • Performing general maintenance duties such as patching, cleanup, debris removal, and site restoration after project completion.
  • Following all safety procedures, traffic control practices, and job instructions to ensure a safe work environment for yourself, your team, and the public.
  • Supporting your team to complete projects efficiently, on schedule, and to City standards.
  • Working in inclement weather conditions to ensure the safety of the public.

Education and/or Experience

Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience in construction or maintenance work or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of methods, common tools and equipment used in public works construction and maintenance work, basic safety precautions and procedures. Ability to perform skilled and unskilled maintenance work; operate and perform routine maintenance and servicing of a variety of power‑driven equipment and power tools; understand and follow verbal and written instructions; work safely and efficiently with others and assist in the training of less experienced workers;

deal tactfully with the public.

Special Requirements

Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Possession of or ability to obtain a California Commercial Motor Vehicle "Class A" Driver's License with endorsements (air brake and tanker) and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of satisfactory completion of the probationary period.
