Position: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

STGi is currently seeking a Registered Nurse to provide services at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Registered Nurse Care Manager, representing the interests of Veteran patients in all areas of the clinic and coordinating care with VA medical center and stakeholders. The position requires an understanding of the clinic’s clinical programs, processes and procedures, and relationships with various services.

The RN is responsible for providing professional clinical services under the direction of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic and managing patient care.

Essential Functions
  • Provide nursing care based on physician, mid‑level provider and clinic manager’s orders to meet the needs of patients.
  • Supervise support staff, if applicable, in the delivery of care to patients.
  • Lead and participate in PACT team huddles.
  • Work with the Primary Care Physician to ensure adequate staffing and promotion of continuity of care between the VAMC and the clinic.
  • Maintain universal precautions and infection control practices.
  • Supervise medical assistants and/or licensed practical nurses in patient assessment and record review.
  • Prepare patients for examination, assist the PACT provider, and ensure smooth patient flow according to VA access standards.
  • Perform triage activities for walk‑in patients and medical phone inquiries.
  • Administer medications per facility protocols and perform CPR as required.
  • Perform nursing procedures such as dressing changes, suture removal, oxygen administration, wound irrigation, catheterization, venipuncture, and blood draw.
  • Operate therapeutic and emergency equipment (monitors, ECG, oxygen, suction).
  • Document patient information in VISTA and maintain clinic reminder tracking.
  • Assist with scheduling and provide patient education on lab results and health resources.
  • Participate in performance improvement programs and ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and VA regulations.
  • Perform day‑to‑day clinic operations and, when absent, fulfill clinic manager duties as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Three years of experience in Medical Surgical Unit, Outpatient Facility, Primary Care, and/or Adult Health.
  • Current and unrestricted California nursing license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification from AHA or Military Training Network.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to assess patient condition, recognize adverse signs, and react in emergency situations.
  • Capability to develop patient education goals and provide counseling and instruction.
  • Proficient with pharmacology, medication administration, and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills with diplomatic customer service approach.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
Required Education
  • RN graduate from an accredited nursing school (ACEN or CCNE).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Working Conditions /

Physical Requirements

Moderate physical activity, including handling objects up to 25 pounds and standing or walking for more than four hours per day. Work is performed in a typical interior office environment, with fast walking or jogging possible during medical emergencies.

Pay
