Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) cultivate a culture of excellence in each pharmacy by acting as role models, demonstrating genuine care and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by managing patient health through safe dispensing, counseling and immunizing practices.
- Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator; act as Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
- Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Coach the pharmacy team to deliver empathy, authentic care and collaborate with the patient’s total health care team, proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
- Offer and deliver immunizations; engage Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, guiding the team on best practices, especially protecting cold chain products.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, engaging team dynamic.
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge.
- Support pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies and procedures, controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping, privacy and security, and maintain a safe, inclusive workplace.
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Attention and Focus:
- Concentrate on a task over a period of time.
- Pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs.
- Confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety.

- Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner.

Skills:- Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
- Utilize active listening, giving full attention to what others are saying, asking questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Mathematical Reasoning:
- Use math to solve a problem (e.g., determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and/or number of full bottles and additional bottles needed to fill a prescription).
- Problem Resolution:
- Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options.
- Physical Demands:
- Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time.
- Lift, scan, and bag items.
- Reach overhead; stretch or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs to grasp items.
- Move fingers repetitively; pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers rather than whole hand or arm.
- Extend hand(s) and arm(s) multiple directions to place, move, or lift items.
- Control precision; quickly adjust machines to exact positions.
- Stoop to a considerable degree, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles to move items between low and high positions, including bending spine at the waist.
- Maintain close visual acuity to perform activities such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts.
