Overview

Liberty Healthcare is accepting applications for a part-time “Competency Education Trainer” position. Liberty Healthcare operates a specialized mental health program within the West Valley Detention Center - a San Bernardino County jail located in Rancho Cucamonga. This program provides high quality assessment and treatment services to adult inmates who are justice involved and experiencing mental illness. As a Competency Trainer, you will work onsite in the jail and provide face-to-face services to program clients who are adult inmates.

Your role will focus on educating clients regarding their mental illness, the criminal justice system, and general court proceedings.

Responsibilities
  • Documenting services and client progress
  • Participating in clinical team meetings and case conferences
  • Collaborating with clinical, ancillary and security staff
  • Helping to ensure program clients receive high quality mental health services
Part-time employment details
  • One 8-hour workday weekly
  • Starting salary between $25.00 to $35.00 (depending on degree, experience, and other qualifications)
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Criminal Justice, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related social services / human services field. Prior experience supporting people with mental illness is also required. Knowledge regarding the criminal justice system is preferred. Social Work, Case Management or similar experience in a mental health setting is helpful.

A professional license is not required. Outstanding communication skills are a must, and you should have the ability to establish rapport with people who are experiencing mental illness.
