Job Title: Housekeeper/Laundry.

General Description: The housekeeper/laundry worker is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the facility’s common areas and resident rooms. In addition, the housekeeper performs laundry duties including the day-to-day laundry requirements for the facility and the residents.

Days and Hours on Duty:
  • Housekeeper/laundry workers are on duty at the facility 7 days a week (refer to Personnel Report LIC 500).
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Cleans all common areas in the facility and resident rooms on a routine schedule.
  • Notifies the Administrator of additional cleaning or repair work needed.
  • Coordinate room cleaning and weekly linen laundry with caregivers to ensure that care giving issues are not compromised.
  • Keeps cleaning cart and cleaning supplies neat and orderly.
  • Performs day-to-day laundry functions and specific tasks assigned.
  • Collects sorts and launders soiled linens, garments, etc.
  • Distributes clean laundry, linen, and garments to residents.
  • Dry/fold resident clothing to resident’s rooms.
  • Coordinate resident linen laundry on a weekly basis.
  • Ensures cleaning products are locked at all time and inaccessible to residents.
  • Maintain laundry area is clean and maintained.
  • Ensure that laundry soap is always available in the laundry room.
  • Is available for other duties as assigned by the administrator.
  • Help as needed with any assistance during resident mealtime.
Qualifications:
  • 18 years of age or older (Verified by birth certificate or driver’s License).
  • Housekeeper and laundry experience in a commercial building.
  • Previous employer references and/or letters of recommendation.
  • Obtained criminal clearance prior to employment.
  • Obtained Health Screening and TB clearance, in good physical and mental health, capable of performing assigned tasks.
  • Ability to read and speak and understand English.
  • Participates in required appropriate job training.
  • Possess knowledge of housekeeping and sanitation principles.
  • Possess knowledge of infection control prevention.
  • Understands what to do and who to call in case of a resident emergency.
  • Will ensure that at no time resident’s rights are violated and any alleged abuse is reported.
