Behavior Technician – Positive Behavior Steps

The Behavior Technician role at Positive Behavior Steps supports children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Under the supervision of a Board‑Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the technician implements evidence‑based behavior intervention methods specific to each child's treatment plan.

  • Base pay range: $21.00/hr – $24.00/hr (based on experience)

  • Opportunity to obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification under BCBA supervision. RBT credential leads to higher pay bracket
Responsibilities
  • Report to Clinical Supervisor (BCBA).
  • Work 1:1 with the client.
  • Utilize strategies in applied behavior analysis as per the client's behavior intervention plan.
  • Regularly analyze client strengths and assess needs.
  • Notify clinical team of newly observed target behaviors.
  • Document significant behavior changes accordingly.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to challenging behaviors.
  • Perform data collection consistently.
  • Monitor client's progression according to goals outlined in a behavior intervention plan.
  • Actively communicate session cancellations with the Scheduler and coordinate makeup sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and state and federal regulations.
  • Check the PBS Outlook email account regularly and respond promptly.
  • Participate in required team meetings.
  • Complete mandatory and ongoing (paid) training.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a working cellular phone.
  • Open availability at least 4 days per week, plus one weekend day if requested by management.
  • Will commute a minimum of 15–20 miles outside of the applied position.
  • Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities is preferred, not required.
  • RBT certification a plus.
  • Skills in time management, communication, organization, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with Office 365 or proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
  • New hires expected to complete a background check through the DOJ and FBI.
