Chaffey College seeks faculty who demonstrate a deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in a professional and educational setting. Situated on the ancestral homeland of the Tongva Peoples, the college serves a wide range of communities and partners. The department is part of the Arts, Communications, and Design Academic & Career Community, offering a full-time, tenure‑track Interior Design instructor position across the Chino campus and potentially the Fontana and Rancho campuses.
Responsibilities- Provide instruction that aligns with district standards, approved course outlines, and departmental expectations.
- Develop and maintain culturally‑sensitive, equity‑mindful learning environments.
- Demonstrate cultural competence regarding diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Create a safe and positive educational environment conducive to effective learning.
- Support students through varied formats: online, in‑person, hybrid, hyflex, fast‑track, accelerated, etc.
- Maintain current knowledge in interior design and engage in innovative teaching methods.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards.
- Employ effective educational techniques to promote learning and achievement.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and community meetings; contribute to curriculum design and development, assessment of student learning outcomes, community outreach, Success Center activities, website development, student advisement, program review, and other duties.
- Engage students to promote critical thinking, collaboration, and empathy.
- Participate in professional development, mentoring, club advising, committees, academic senate, and community engagement.
- Accept day, evening, and/or weekend assignments as part of the regular contract.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience; OR
- Associate’s degree and six years of professional experience; OR
- Valid lifetime California Community College credential authorizing service as an interior design instructor; OR
- Equivalency as determined by the faculty application.
- Evidence of sensitivity to diverse backgrounds in a community college environment.
- Professional competency in technology use within the classroom.
- Two years of recent teaching experience in a related discipline; teaching experience in online, hybrid, hyflex, fast‑track, accelerated formats.
- Commitment to culturally‑responsive instruction and holistic, equity‑based efforts.
- Commitment to supporting students on all academic pathways/journeys.
- Experience with student populations included in the Chaffey College Equity Plan.
- Willingness to use ZTC/OER materials.
- Experience teaching studio‑based, project‑driven design courses in residential and commercial interior design.
- Proficiency in industry‑standard interior design software:
AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable digital visualization tools. - Ability to integrate current industry‑standard design software and emerging technologies into instruction.
- Knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and health, safety, and welfare considerations in interior design practice.
- Experience teaching professional practice concepts: client communication, project documentation, ethics, and career preparation in interior design.
Conditions of Employment
:
Salary placement ranges from $81,908 (minimum qualifications) to $119,043 (doctorate). Placement depends on verification of relevant experience and coursework from an accredited institution. On‑site work at a Chaffey facility is essential.
