Instructor, Associate Degree Nursing (Full‑time, Tenure‑Track)

Salary: $81,908 – $119,043 annually (Fall 2025 schedule). This is a full‑time, tenure‑track position. Teaching duties may include campuses at Fontana and Chino.
Position OverviewChaffey College is a federally recognized Hispanic Serving Institution committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. The College seeks a professional, culturally responsive instructor who will teach Associate Degree Nursing courses, develop engaging learning environments, and participate in faculty governance, curriculum design, community outreach, and student advising.
Responsibilities- Provide instruction in accordance with district standards and approved course outlines.
- Design and maintain culturally sensitive, equity‑mindful learning environments.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse student, faculty, and staff backgrounds.
- Ensure a safe, positive educational environment for effective learning.
- Use online, in‑person, hybrid, hyflex, fast‑track, and accelerated formats as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge in nursing and engage in innovative teaching methods.
- Uphold professional and ethical standards.
- Employ effective educational techniques to promote learning and achievement.
- Participate in department and community meetings; contribute to curriculum design, assessment of student learning outcomes, and development of supplemental instructional activities.
- Advise students, leading to program review and other student‑benefit duties.
- Promote critical thinking, collaboration, empathy, and engagement.
- Engage in scholarly activities such as professional development, mentoring, committees, academic senate, and community relationships.
- Availability for day, evening, or weekend assignments across campuses may be required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, or Bachelor's in Nursing plus a Master’s or equivalent in Health Education/Health Science.
- Board of Registered Nursing requirements (whichever is higher); equivalency acceptable.
- Evidence of sensitivity and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s in Education in Nursing (MSN with educational specialty or post‑master’s certificate) OR Master’s in Nursing with recent education experience (≥1 year).
- Current California Registered Nursing license at date of employment.
- Direct patient care practice as a registered nurse within the last five years in the assignment area (ICU, CCU, DOU, ED; specialty care units such as psychiatric, pediatrics, obstetrics, older adult).
- One academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated area, OR equivalent demonstrating clinical competency.
- Completion of at least one academic year of teaching courses related to registered nursing or a post‑baccalaureate course with practice in teaching registered nursing.
- At least two years of recent teaching experience in a related discipline.
- Experience teaching in online, in‑person, hybrid, hyflex, fast‑track, or accelerated formats.
- Commitment to culturally‑responsive instruction and equity‑based efforts.
- Experience with student populations included in the Chaffey College Equity Plan.
- Familiarity with digital learning resources such as ZTC/OER.
- Recent clinical or teaching experience in pediatrics or related specialties.
On‑site presence in a Chaffey facility is required. The applicant must be able to work in person with students and staff.
