Job Description – Bus Driver

Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, operate a school bus over designated routes to transport school children and to perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Any combination equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Licenses and Certificates:
    Must possess and maintain a valid State of California Class B driver's license and a California School Bus Driver Certificate. Acquire and maintain a valid First Aid and CPR certificate or endorsement by the California Highway Patrol within six months of employment.
Physical Requirements

Physical abilities include the usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions and require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching; reaching, handling, touching and/or feeling; manual dexterity to operate a bus, climb steps, and reach overhead. Must be able to arm lift 50 pounds and floor lift 50 pounds.

Additionally, must be able to sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods, read and understand documentation, and communicate clearly while operating the bus.

Upon Conditional Offer of Employment
  • DoJ and FBI Criminal Background Check
  • TB Test within the last 60 days (Education Code 49406, Assembly Bill 1667)
  • Complete district Mandated Reporter training, Sexual Harassment, etc.
  • Must obtain and maintain a First Aid/CPR Certificate (In‑Person Training ONLY)
  • Pre‑Employment Physical Evaluation conducted through the District (Minimum 50 pounds)
