Research Scientist
SK pharmteco, Small Molecule, U.S., is a custom manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs, Drug Substances) and registered intermediates for customers in the pharmaceutical industry. Our integrated facilities in California and Texas specialize in process development, scale‑up, and cGMP compliant production from kilograms to multi‑ton quantities.
We are looking for enthusiastic scientists to join our R&D Team! We have opportunities at our Rancho Cordova, CA location (greater Sacramento area).
This position is responsible for production support and process development of pharmaceutical ingredients.
Job SummaryThe Process Scientist II performs professional chemist assignments requiring use and application of standard chemical principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. This role is focused on scientific research, development, and testing of new products, processes, and raw materials, including researching potential new products and processes by developing and testing theories on the physical and chemical properties of materials and ingredients under various conditions.
This position aids projects in meeting established schedules or in resolving technical or operational problems. Works under general supervision.
- Perform guided experiments in a timely manner.
- Participate in production support including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Contribute experimental writeups for weekly reports.
- Participate in customer calls.
- Develop new methods or processes which require a comprehensive knowledge of chemistry and laboratory techniques.
- Compile and evaluate test results.
- Prepare reports to document findings and recommendations regarding processes, materials, and project directions.
- Review related inputs such as tests and experiments conducted by other laboratory personnel.
- Coordinate with personnel in other disciplines to integrate findings and recommendations.
- Must be able to work efficiently both individually and as a team, sharing ideas and adapting to change.
- Ability to solve problems and exhibit strong organizational and planning skills.
- Typically requires 3‑5 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree, or 0‑2 years of related experience and a master's degree or equivalent experience.
- Ph.D. (preferred), bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in chemistry or organic chemistry.

Conditions:
Workplace may include areas where a wide variety of chemical materials are used and stored. May involve potential exposure to variable noise levels. Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. May require the use of personal protective equipment. May need to work outside of normal office hours.
