Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director - Middle Market located in Sacramento, CA. Zurich North America has built a world-class Middle Market operation serving key industries across the U.S. We seek an experienced Market Facing Property & Casualty Underwriter to join our team.

• Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries to support business objectives.
• Leverage Property & Casualty underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting to gain knowledge in a growing and innovative industry.
• Use technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory.

This role will be filled at either the Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director Level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based on the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market facing areas, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in underwriting or market facing areas, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support (and)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience meeting time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience working in a team environment

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7+ years of experience in underwriting or market facing areas, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market facing areas, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support (AND)
• Experience with Microsoft Office

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Microsoft Office experience

The combined salary range for this position is $ – $. The proposed salary range for the Executive Underwriter is $ – $, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. For the AVP Underwriting Director, the range is $ – $, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
