We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Sacramento, California. This long-term contract position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to financial operations within the healthcare industry. The role requires expertise in accounting practices, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with various departments.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely journal entries for monthly general ledger close in compliance with accounting standards and company procedures.
- Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses, requiring advanced knowledge of accounting principles.
- Generate comprehensive financial reports utilizing intermediate to advanced computer skills.
- Collaborate with supervisors, managers, and directors to identify issues, propose solutions, and oversee implementation and monitoring.
- Compile and report complex financial data for internal and external purposes, including regulatory filings and audits.
- Manage the financial close process for assigned hospitals, including accruals, variance analysis, communication with facilities, and final reporting.
- Function effectively within a team environment, contributing constructively to achieve cooperative results.
- Identify and resolve challenges by analyzing business operations and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Post routine journal entries independently, prioritize workloads to meet deadlines, and evaluate best practices for analytical reviews.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to team members while maintaining proactive communication with supervisors.
Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance; healthcare or hospital experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience in a detail-oriented role; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting concepts.
- Proficiency in analytical review and problem-solving with high-level attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with supervisors.
- Advanced skills in spreadsheet applications such as Excel and general ledger processing software.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to supported facilities during normal work hours.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and support team members effectively.
