The Senior Manager - Financial Projects provides advanced financial analysis and operational support across Finance, Financial Planning, and Project Management. This role focuses on building and maintaining scalable financial processes, strengthening budget-to-actual reporting, improving project cost visibility, and supporting forecasting and revenue analysis.
Operating as a senior individual contributor, this role partners closely with Finance leadership, Project Management, IT, and functional stakeholders to enable accurate financial reporting, improve planning processes, and support enterprise initiatives and system implementations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support forecasting of stability-related revenue through improved tracking and reporting processes.
- Reconcile project tracking across R&D, Analytical, and Stability work streams and implement standardized, repeatable processes.
- Support cost and revenue accounting activities through cross-training and backup coverage to strengthen succession planning.
- Assist in analyzing direct and indirect costs, allocations, and financial trends impacting project and operational performance.
- Partner with IT to design and maintain a manageable financial reporting and budget-to-actual system that improves data visibility, usability, and sustainability.
- Support Finance-related system initiatives, including proposed Oracle projects, testing, data validation, and process alignment.
- Act as an operational enabler for Finance by improving tools, workflows, and reporting efficiency.
- Provide Finance Operations ("OE-style") support for Finance, Planning, and the financial aspects of Project Management.
- Backfill and support workloads of existing Finance staff to enable subject matter experts to focus on strategic improvement initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional projects, ad hoc analyses, and special requests as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in management accounting, budgeting, financial planning, or related finance roles.
- Experience supporting project-based financial environments strongly preferred.
- ERP and financial systems experience (Oracle or similar) preferred.
- Strong understanding of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ability to design and sustain scalable financial processes.
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Strong collaboration skills with Finance, IT, Project Management, and operational teams.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
- CPA preferred
This role may involve work in laboratory or manufacturing environments with potential exposure to chemicals or other regulated substances. As a condition of employment, incumbents may be required to participate in employer-provided medical surveillance programs in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and company policy.
