Kitchen Manager (overnight) (Transportation)
Our store located in Ramsey, NJ is seeking a full-time Kitchen Manager for overnight hours (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) to support very busy kitchen operations. The Kitchen Manager supervises kitchen duties by managing the pantry, inventory, how food is stored and prepared, and how customers are serviced. A successful Kitchen Manager guides staff to deliver quality, hand-crafted food and ensures customer satisfaction.
Salary for this position is $95,000 annually plus an incentive bonus of up to 15% of annual salary. This position also comes with a robust benefits package!
Responsibilities- Ensure that all food items and products are stored, prepared, and served based on the restaurant s recipes, preparation methods, and portion standards.
- Evaluate and discipline kitchen personnel as needed and make employment decisions.
- Order kitchen materials and ingredients based on the menu and market demand.
- Supervise food preparation and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean working environment and ensure employees follow preventive maintenance measures.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels and conduct weekly inventories.
- Collaborate with department managers to create menu items, pricing, and establish portion sizes for each meal.
- Schedule shifts by business hours, days, and occasions.
- Oversee the training of employees to ensure safe operation of kitchen equipment, proper handling of heavy items, and hazardous materials.
- Other duties and functions as assigned.
- Oversee quality, inventory, QA processes, and food safety standards in the restaurant.
- Ensure that food safety and security standards are met consistently by team members.
- Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g., refrigerators, storage rooms).
- Manage and maintain food safety standards at all times.
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience managing a kitchen in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work a varying schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Self-motivated with the ability to motivate and lead a team
- Must be able to speak, read, and understand English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
- Food Safety Certification

Working ConditionsMost of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. May involve bending, climbing, crawling, lifting, reaching, and stooping. Lifting objects up to 30 pounds is required; assistance may be needed for objects heavier than 30 pounds. Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and loud equipment, which may require shouting to be heard. Exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers may occur.
Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and sharp objects/industrial equipment may be necessary to perform job duties.
