Job Summary
Social Worker Senior – Ramsey County, Minnesota (Kellogg). Full‑time, flexible/hybrid with remote options.
Salary: $71,778.73 – $ annually.
Position SummaryThe current vacancy is in the Adult Protection Unit, Social Services Department. Employees may be assigned to other vacancies within the department or county. This is the journey or full performance level in this class series, with minimal supervision required.
Responsibilities- Interview adults or children to assess needs and develop case plans.
- Interview family, school, employer, or community members to supplement assessments.
- Develop case plans, treatment objectives, and monitoring strategies.
- Determine and mitigate client danger risks; protect clients as necessary.
- Investigate reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation within mandated time frames.
- Coordinate and refer clients to departmental and community resources.
- Prepare support and legal documents for court petitions and testify at proceedings.
- Document case histories and reports for court, department, and providers.
- Assess need for residential treatment and advise on placement options.
- Monitor progress toward service goals and determine service termination or continuation.
- Provide direct counseling and therapeutic services to individuals or groups.
- Arrange transportation for clients to appointments, hearings, or program visits.
- Consult with staff, county departments, and community professionals to streamline services.
- Offer crisis intervention and emergency referrals for housing, food, clothing, or financial assistance.
- Evaluate homes for day‑care/foster‑care licensure; approve or revoke licenses as warranted.
- Engage community groups to raise program awareness and recruit service providers.
- Develop recruitment training and materials.
- supervise volunteers and student interns.
- Represent the unit in committees and community outreach activities.
- Train coworkers and service providers on program procedures.
- Maintain accurate case records and complete required forms.
- Advise other social workers on petitions and court presentations.
- Monitor client compliance with court orders.
- Provide data on client and program trends.
- Offer problem‑solving consultation to clients, coworkers, and partner agencies.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in social/behavioral science or equivalent; plus 230 continuing education hours in related fields.
Experience:
Five years of social work experience or equivalent. Substitutions: two years of Ramsey County Human Services Case Aide 3 experience counts as one year of social work experience, up to a maximum of six years. M.S.W. may substitute for two years of experience, related master’s degree may substitute for one year.
Training and Experience Rating: 100%. Applicants MUST complete the supplemental questionnaire – answers should be clear, complete, and not include “see resume.” Failure to respond negates the score.
Eligible List:
Applicants who pass the examination are placed on a three‑month list for future openings.
Flexible Workplace:
Employees may work three days in office and two days remote or fully remote, subject to on‑site responsibilities. The county’s Flexible Workplace policy is available on the county website.
