Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Coordinator of Athletic Compliance ensures adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations, with an emphasis on eligibility and compliance operations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in NCAA compliance and eligibility processes and will serve as a resource for coaches, staff, and student-athletes. The Coordinator of Athletic Compliance collaborates with student administrative offices and Admissions to help the University achieve its goals in the recruitment and retention of student athletes.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

Essential Job Functions
  • Monitor and certify student-athlete eligibility for practice and competition in accordance with NCAA and institutional standards.
  • Assist with the coordination of the precertification process to evaluate initial eligibility, amateurism, and admission status for prospective student-athletes, including the evaluation of international and domestic transfer scholar-athletes.
  • Coordinate and document the collection and reconciliation of playing & practice seasons, countable athletically related activity (CARA), and time management plans, adhering to all NCAA and university policies & protocols.
  • Serve as a liaison between Athletics and campus offices such as Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid to ensure accurate and timely processing of eligibility and compliance documentation.
  • Educate coaches, staff, and student-athletes on NCAA rules and regulations; provide interpretations and guidance as needed.
  • Support the administration of NCAA compliance software systems, including the NCAA Eligibility Center.
  • Assist with monitoring recruiting activities, financial aid allocations, and squad lists to ensure compliance with NCAA legislation.
  • Prepare and submit required NCAA and institutional reports, including eligibility waivers and rule interpretations.
  • Develop and distribute compliance education materials for internal and external constituents as needed.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and assist the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) in investigating and reporting potential violations.
  • Represent the athletics department at conference meetings, NCAA regional rules seminars, and national conventions as needed.
  • Work with the University’s Title IX officer to ensure compliance with Title IX guidelines.
  • Supervise grant-in-aid distribution for all sports, including the processes of initial and annual renewal/non-renewal of athletic grants-in-aid.
  • Coordinate activities/communication within the CIAA conference and NCAA as they relate to compliance matters.
  • Assist with game-day operations, event management, and other departmental duties as assigned.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise student workers; carry out supervisory responsibilities by following the University's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training workers; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Two years of demonstrated experience in college athletics, higher education administration, or business management.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High business and personal ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated calm; thoughtful under pressure.
  • Legally operate an automobile in the State of North Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in NCAA compliance and eligibility processes at the campus or conference level.
  • Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation.
  • Experience with NCAA compliance software systems.

Physical Demands
