Job Description
Our client has been doing in‑house, native mobile development for several years, but every business channel within the organization is increasing their presence on the mobile platform. They are looking to grow a robust, engaged mobile development team that is passionate about delivering an excellent mobile experience for users. The ever‑growing mobile user base is asking for more features and more interesting visualizations and interactions.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Android Developer you will be responsible for leading the development efforts and providing guidance to the engineering team across their suite of mobile applications for Retail, Retirement, and Intelligent Assistant. You will participate in design discussions, mentor engineers, and remove roadblocks.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements for the development team.
- Direct the development team in design, coding, testing, and debugging of applications.
- Apply in‑depth knowledge of current technological trends, developments, and best practices in information security, wireless network architecture, and related concepts.
- Integrate feature‑flagging tools such as Launch Darkly and Optimizely.
- Implement unit test cases using Espresso, Gerkhin, Mockito, Mock etc. tools.
- Use analytics tools such as Adobe, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Apps Flyer etc.
- Work with code repository tools such as Git, Bit Bucket, SVN etc.
- Apply exceptional OO design and development skills.
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 7+ years of Android development experience with team leadership experience.
- Extensive experience developing complex Android applications in an enterprise environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and deep experience coaching and mentoring junior developers.
- Experience with REST, JSON, XML and interfacing Android applications to server‑side APIs.
- Proficiency with Kotlin.
- Solid grasp of algorithms, memory management, and real‑time communications.
- Familiarity with Agile practices.
- Hands‑on experience supporting multiple versions of Android SDKs, screen resolutions and device types.
- Expert understanding of the Android SDK and NDK.
Preferred location will be Austin, TX onsite 4 days a week.
Alternate Locations:
Dallas/Westlake, and Raleigh, NC.
