Software Engineer

Job Location:

Job Duration: 18+ month contract

Job Responsibilities:

• Deploy code, configs and tests using tools such as Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Go in a CI/CD pipeline.
• Develop and execute negative, HA, performance and scale tests for the client’s cloud offering and integrate them into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Log, track and drive issues to resolution with verification of bug fixes; document test results and research findings.
• Participate in the design, development and testing of application workflows in a cloud environment.
• Plan and execute end‑to‑end performance / scale tests on a virtual cloud environment based on Open Stack.
• Collaborate with co‑located and remote colleagues to solve technical issues.
• Validate large‑scale application workflows comprising large application pools in a cloud architecture.
• Work with automation team to tag and assess manual test cases for automation.
• Provide weekly defect and test case reports via Rally; monitor status of automation of test cases for CI/CD.
• Participate in daily Agile scrums as required.

Skills and Experience:

• Hands‑on experience designing, supporting or deploying applications in an Open Stack environment.
• Experience with monitoring solutions such as Nagios, Ganglia, Zenoss, or Prime (desired).
• Proficiency with provisioning and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Cobbler, or Juju;
  Puppet or Ansible preferred.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Bash;
  Python strongly preferred.
• Expert familiarity with cloud computing concepts, virtualization, web services APIs, elastic infrastructure, metered usage patterns, multitenancy.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, including multiple distributions, networking, virtualization, and server software.
• Experience with block, file and object storage (Swift, Ceph, iSCSI, SAN, NAS) a plus.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills for geographically dispersed teams.
• Problem‑solving skills to identify, scope and resolve technical issues at scale.
• Agile experience (Rally, Jira) preferred.
• Seven years of relevant experience.
