Role Summary
The Aptitude Foreman will perform a variety of technical installations on projects and ensure that the planned work is performed efficiently and effectively with all connections working as expected. This position will be responsible for completing tasks personally and supervising a crew. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.
Responsibilities- Manages small crews of employees delivering Intelligent Integration work.
- Reads and understands blueprints, specifications, and drawings.
- Interfaces with the construction operations team, various trade partners, and customers.
- Plans and schedules designated work scopes and orders appropriate materials to ensure cost and schedule are maintained.
- Provides oversight and is responsible for performing a variety of technical installations including cable installation and termination, fiber optic splicing and terminations, feeder cross connectivity, communication room buildout, and related patching as needed on specific scopes of work.
- Functions as a subject matter expert in one or more technical systems and integrates connections between systems including cable, fire alarm, security, audio visual, building automation, and network infrastructure.
- Tracks and reports labor hours.
- Maintains proper care of tools and equipment necessary to support technical installations on a project.
- Leads and monitors safety and security procedures within the crew.
- Establishes crew sizes that align with production goals.
- Documents key information such as activities, productions and crew sizes.
- Communicates with suppliers and coordinates delivery of supplies to the jobsite.
- Understands and maintains established quality levels associated with duties.
- Supports project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.
- Participates in safety activities such as toolbox talks, job hazard analysis, job site analysis and SIMS reporting.
- Creates and implements safety plans and ensures compliance through training and communication with safety representatives.
- Provides on-the-job guidance and shares expertise to support team member learning and development.
- Coordinates inspections for assigned scope of work.
- Creates, communicates, monitors and achieves crew production goals.
- Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
- Communication skills, verbal and written – Intermediate
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Knowledge of project management software
- Strong knowledge in one area of the various technical systems such as cable, fire alarm, security, audio visual, building automation, network infrastructure
- Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources
- Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy
- Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity
- Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work
- Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management
- Knowledge of layout skill – Intermediate
- Knowledge of crane flagging and rigging
- Ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications
- Acquire knowledge of productivity rates
- Ability to assess and optimize project productivity
- Ability to lead crews and achieve production goals
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Vocational/Technical degree in related field (Preferred)
- 1+ years commercial construction experience
- 2+ years field supervision experience
- BICSI certification or 4 years experience in cable pulling (Preferred)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
