Edge Brook Lane Consulting (EBL) is partnering with a local, Raleigh-based company in search of a seasoned Retail Planner. This is a great opportunity to join a mission-driven, non-profit organization located downtown Raleigh, NC.
Position SummaryThis is a full-time on-site role for a Retail Planner who will oversee the end-to-end retail inventory flow, with a focus on maximizing sales and profit by forecasting demand, inventory control and assortment planning across locations and seasonal demands. This position should have solid financial acumen, excellent communication skills and be a detail-oriented thinker with strong logistics skills. The Retail Planner will thrive on systems, timelines, and data, but will also have understanding that the work has a human impact - from the team on the floor to the guests purchasing products.
Duties/Responsibilities- Analyze historical data, market trends, and customer insights to predict future demand and build sales/inventory plans, monitor stock levels, manage transfers, and ensure optimal inventory flow across stores to meet customer needs seasonally.
- Track sales, margin, and inventory performance to identify inventory opportunities.
- Coordinate with Retail Managers to anticipate demand based on seasonal trends and foot traffic.
- Support promotional strategies, store segmentation, and markdown planning.
- Partner with Finance and Operations teams to reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and COGS data.
- Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery timelines.
- Manage back of house floor manager on implementing and optimizing receiving, restocking and transfer processes.
- Support visual merchandising and product launches with timely inventory delivery.
- Identify supply chain gaps and propose data-informed solutions to mitigate risk.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of setting up and breaking down ticketing stations and equipment.
- Ability to focus on detailed work, such as reading contracts or viewing digital systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of procurement workflows and inventory systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Budget management experience and a results-driven mindset.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for event execution.
- Ability to represent organization in a friendly and enthusiastic manner.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Art Management or a related field preferred
- 4–6+ years of experience in supply chain, inventory, or logistics (retail environment preferred).
- Experience in cultural institutions, guest-facing nonprofits, or tourism-driven retail.
- A background in visual merchandising or retail experience design.
