Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented. You must be able to fulfill the following requirements:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
• Thank the customer
• Engage with the customer and/or pet
• Advise on products or services
• Make the experience memorable
• Perform duties such as operating cash registers, merchandise recovery, participating in freight processing, completing plan-o-gram procedures, assembling merchandise, performing janitorial duties, executing price changes, assisting with loading purchases, ensuring the safety and care of live animals, and completing related documentation.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• No experience required; retail or pet/live animal knowledge is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required. Ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Pet/live animal knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution with minimal conflict.

Working Conditions

• Generally indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Work shifts typically no less than 4 hours, possibly exceeding 8 hours.
• Promote safety and adhere to safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• This is a non-sedentary position requiring physical stamina.
• Ability to move quickly and safely throughout the store and outdoor areas.
• Ability to lift or reach merchandise overhead and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Ability to operate store equipment and complete documentation accurately.
