Summary

A Cashier associate must provide aggressive customer service by greeting customers as they enter the store and by timely, accurate processing of customer transactions. They also greet customers at the register, scan merchandise, process all sales, refunds/exchanges and use the register to close transactions. The position includes training, maintenance and stocking responsibilities similar to that of a CNRG Team Player. As the first and last person a customer encounters, the Cashier greets each customer when they enter and thanks them when they leave.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand and conduct yourself according to CNRG’s Mission and Values
  • Accurately process customer transactions in an orderly, timely, and friendly manner (credit cards, cash, checks, etc.)
  • Greet customers as they enter and exit the store, creating a lasting impression of friendliness
  • Verify merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices to ensure accuracy when completing a transaction
  • Handle returns/exchanges and sales of merchandise
  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly, efficiently, and courteously
  • Receive payment on commercial accounts, receive money from drivers on C.O.D. tickets, and aid in credit application completion
  • Complete and file due tickets for customers needing a later pick-up
  • Complete and file rain checks for out-of-stock items
  • Accurately count down all tenders, prepare deposits, and organize the drawer for the following day
  • Utilize the credit and check verification system according to established company policy and procedures
  • Ensure daily inflow and outflow of paperwork, including filing and storage, is handled efficiently and precisely according to established procedures, including daily reports, currency, and other documentation as necessary
  • Direct customers to items in the store and call other team members for customer assistance
  • Maintain responsibility for cash and controls to protect company assets
  • Maintain a positive customer service attitude at all times
  • Follow all Cashier procedures
  • Accurately determine the difference between similar products
  • Help keep the store clean
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by store management
A Successful Cashier Associate

Candidates must consistently demonstrate CNRG’s Mission and Values. They must possess good oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers, vendors, and associates in person and on the telephone. They should be customer‑service oriented, team‑oriented, and have good organizational skills. A successful Cashier must effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously, climb up and down ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs.,

handle large oddly‑shaped items, and stock items in overhead areas. They must accurately count and distinguish denominations of money, maintain high product knowledge, and work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

This job is an hourly position. While there are no guarantees for career progression, CNRG promotes from within and will consider candidates with experience for other store positions.
