SummaryThe Assistant General Manager plays a key leadership role in bringing our brand new Raleigh location to life. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this leader will immerse themselves in every corner of the restaurant and brewery – learning each position, understanding every system, and helping build a culture that feels welcoming, genuine, and full of energy from day one. The AGM is responsible for driving daily operations, supporting the selection, development, and performance of our team, and ensuring our guests experience the fun, hospitality, and heart that define who we are.
This role oversees inventory and purchasing, supports financial performance, strengthens systems, and helps the team deliver smooth, consistent execution. We’re looking for a hands‑on, people‑forward leader who thrives in fast‑paced environments, communicates with clarity and positivity, and knows how to balance operational excellence with creating an unforgettable guest experience. - Build the Crooked Hammock team & be an effective coach; elevate staff for growth and assist them in reaching goals by establishing performance expectations, providing feedback, & conducting performance reviews as necessary
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, coaching & evaluating for growth, and uphold La Vida’s values of “How We Roll”
- Conduct orientation, explain the CHB Philosophy, and oversee the training of new employees
- Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed when and as needed, and labor cost objectives are met
- Ensure team members have the right tools, knowledge and equipment required to do their jobs safely and effectively
- Make employment and termination decisions including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and disciplining brewery personnel, as appropriate, and in accordance with Company policies, rules, and procedures
- Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues
- Provide strong presence in local community & high level of community involvement by restaurant and personnel
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the industry; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Live the brand and be a brand ambassador
- Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant, and make final decisions on matters of importance to guest service; ensure positive guest service in all areas, respond to and resolve complaints
- Manage shifts which include daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness
- Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs
- Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll-related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas
- Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances
- Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service
- Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards
- Estimate food and beverage cost; estimate food needs, place orders with distributors, and schedule the delivery of fresh food and supplies
- Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company assets
- Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents; completes accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured
- College degree is preferred. Bachelor of Science degree in hotel/restaurant management is desirable
