Quality Manager in Projects

The role of the Quality Manager in Projects (QMiP) is to advise the Project Director enior project Manager in expediting quality assurance on the project(s). The QMIP is also responsible for managing and/or monitoring the quality resource on the project. The QMiP is the subject matter expert and should assist in the planning of all key quality activity across the life cycle of the project.
It is also important that the QMIP has the expressed authority to intervene at any stage in the project if proceedings could have a negative impact on the project. The QMiP should report directly to the Senior Project Manager and/or the Project Director on the project for that reason. They act as member of the core project management team.

• Provide input for tender/bid phase with regard to Quality budget, opportunities and risks.

• Support project management to define Quality-related requirements and responsibilities to be integrated in Customers and Contractor's agreements.

• Develop a project specific Quality plan.

• Provide guidance and support to the Quality team at site.

• Ensure that Quality inspections and audits are carried out to the highest standards and reviews Quality documentation provided by the Contractors.

• Ensure all Non-Conformity Reports (NCR's) are investigated and recorded, and appropriate measures are defined, implemented, and monitored, as well as promote the sharing of best practices and documents lessons learned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience (Typically 3 years+) in an operational quality position such as a quality manager working in a project office environment

• Substantial experience of working in highly regulated industries

• Substantial experience of working in a matrix organization assisting in the delivery of large infrastructure projects

• Experience of dealing with third parties xternal bodies

• Managed and selected quality teams to support project activity
