The NC State Veterinary Hospital is an integrated health care center for companion, equine, and farm animals. We exist to further the teaching mission of the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine and to provide state-of-the-art patient care. More than 30,000 patients are diagnosed and treated annually by the Veterinary Hospital. Established in 1983, the Veterinary Hospital is one of the highest rated regional academic medical centers in the country, serving communities throughout North Carolina as well as many other states.

Job Duties

Are you passionate about breaking down barriers to veterinary care? We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Veterinarian to lead our mobile outreach initiative. This role suits a clinician who thrives on variety, enjoys community engagement, and is committed to providing high-quality primary care to underserved populations. The Mission is to bring the clinic to the client using a state-of-the-art mobile unit, traveling to regional areas where veterinary services are limited to ensure every pet has access to essential medical care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary Care Delivery: Provide comprehensive wellness exams, vaccinations, and parasite prevention for small animals (dogs and cats).
  • Clinical Management: Diagnose and treat patients with a range of acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize on-site technology such as point-of-care bloodwork, ultrasonography, and digital radiography.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the organization in regional underserved areas and provide preventative health education.
What We're Looking For
  • Adaptability: Comfortable in a mobile environment and traveling to different regional locations.
  • Clinical Proficiency: Strong skills in internal medicine, preventative care, and diagnostic interpretation.
  • Compassion: Desire to serve varied communities and improve the lives of pets and their people.
  • DVM/VMD Degree:
    Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the state of practice.
Other Responsibilities

Intermittent spay/neuter is anticipated based on demand and may be accomplished with a mobile hospital owned and maintained by the Veterinary Hospital.

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), or equivalent
