Position Overview
Equine and Farm Animal Attendant (Weekend) – Temporary – Saturday & Sunday, 3pm – 12am (flexible with hospital needs and holidays). Located in Raleigh, NC, working at NC State University.
Responsibilities- Maintain a clean and sanitary hospital environment through routine stall/cage maintenance, hospital cleaning, disinfection, and waste removal.
- Restrain and provide basic husbandry for equine and farm animal patients.
- Support small‑animal hospital duties as needed.
- Lift up to 70 lbs and operate equipment such as forklift, pressure washer, and basic power tools.
- Manage inventory and accurately measure chemicals for dilution.
- Practice safe and humane handling of all patients and maintain compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Extensive experience handling and restraining equine (including mares with foals, regnant mares, stallions, etc.) and farm animals.
- Experience with animal husbandry, cleaning, disinfection, and basic facility maintenance.
- Valid NC driver’s license (commercial driver’s license not required).
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and operate designated equipment.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to all policies and safety procedures.
- Preferred:
Experience in a veterinary setting, knowledge of infectious disease control programs, and familiarity with OSHA and veterinary certifications such as AAHA, AVMA, etc.
