Equine and Farm Animal Attendant (Weekend)
Join North Carolina State University as an Equine and Farm Animal Attendant (Weekend). This temporary position is located in Raleigh, NC.
EssentialJob Duties
- Maintain a clean and sanitary hospital through routine stall/cage maintenance, hospital cleaning and disinfection, and waste removal.
- Restrain and provide basic husbandry for equine and farm animal patients. Provide the same duties as small animal hospital backup.
- Lift up to 70 lbs and operate equipment such as forklift, pressure washer, and basic power tools.
- Manage inventory, accurately measure chemicals for dilution, and practice safe and humane handling of all patients.
- Communicate effectively, work on a team, and comply with all policies and procedures, including safety and OSHA.
Saturday – Sunday (3 pm – 12 am), varying with hospital needs and holidays.
Requirements and Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Extensive experience with handling/restraint of equine (including mares with foals, regnant mares, stallions, etc.) and farm animals.
- Animal husbandry, cleaning and disinfection, and basic facility maintenance skills.
- Valid NC driver’s license.
- Experience restraining and providing husbandry care for the equine species.
- Prior veterinary setting experience.
- Knowledge of infectious disease control programs and OSHA compliance.
- Veterinary certifications such as AAHA, AVMA.
- Pay: $15.00 per hour.
