3 West – General Medicine
3 West is a 31 bed, general medicine unit. We care for a variety of medical patients with diagnoses that include COPD, diabetes, pneumonia, renal failure, minor neurological disorders, behavioral health, as well as many others.
Job Title: Clinical Nurse IV (CNIV) – Medical Inpatient Unit
Department: Medical-Surgical Nursing
Reports To: Unit Manager
Shift: Nights

Position Summary:
The Clinical Nurse IV (CNIV) is an expert-level registered nurse who provides clinical leadership on a medical inpatient unit under the supervision of the Unit Manager. This role encompasses direct patient care, as well as charge nurse responsibilities, patient advocacy, staff mentorship, resource coordination, and quality promotion projects.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates, designs and implements educational programs to meet identified learning needs of staff, patients and families.
- Evaluates patient progress and revises plan accordingly.
- Promotes an environment that values diversity, open communication, teamwork and exceptional service.
- Creates and promotes an environment conducive to recruiting and retaining staff.
- Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care.
- Establishes and promotes standards of excellence for areas of responsibility and ensures consistent implementation by staff.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager to evaluate research that is applicable to practice and promotes changes in standards of care as appropriate.
Education Requirements:
- Graduate of Accredited Nursing Program.
- Bachelor's degree (BSN) required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Must have NC RN Licensure and BCLS.
- Professional certification relevant to the practice area and on the ANCC Magnet approved list within the probationary period of employment.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of one year experience working as a licensed RN.
