Night shift 7p-7a covering a 24/7 busy cardiology service line.
Cardiology experience preferred.
Summary
An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high‑quality, cost‑effective care to patients within the APP’s scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
Clinical – Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets pertinent diagnostic tests/results. Develops appropriate differential diagnoses and treatment plans. Prescribes/orders evidence‑based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileges, schedules appropriate follow‑up. Actively incorporates evidence‑based hospital initiatives to improve patient care. Conducts preventive health screening, maintains comprehensive records, stays current with general disease and specialty literature, consistently derives correct diagnoses, revises plans of care, prioritizes work, maintains productivity, leads projects to improve productivity, and performs medical procedures consistent with guidelines.Education – Appropriately and professionally educates clients and/or families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up. Collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family‑centered care. Develops educational materials, provides instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students, actively recognizes and participates in self‑learning needs, attends education programs.Leadership – Provides instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students including precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning report, and staff meetings. Participates in community/network outreach programs, develops/leads outreach programs, demonstrates understanding of contexts and systems, improves health care delivery, participates in systems improvements.Professional – Interacts with patients and families in a respectful, courteous and timely fashion using appropriate communication. Collaborates with coworkers and team members respectfully and timely. Responds quickly to meet customer needs, resolves problems, accepts responsibility for outcomes, shares workload with team members.Quality/Research – Engages in continuous quality improvement, implements processes for improvement, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates and revises protocols/guidelines, influences policy‑making bodies, develops new clinical programs or services to improve patient care.Other Information
Education Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
