Review medical and clinical referral information for appropriateness of admission. Assess patients through a systematic process of interacting with patient, the patient’s significant others, and the appropriate health care providers. When requested, collect, and analyze data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, and anticipated discharge planning needs. Complete Medication Reconciliation and brief nursing assessment for admitted patients. Receives RN report from referring/receiving facility RN.
Administer medication as ordered and monitor for side effects, as needed. Participate in Emergency Services emergency codes necessary to the department’s safe operation. Assist with communicating patient needs and history via report to RN on receiving inpatient units.
SCHEDULE:
Due to the 24/7 environment of the Admissions Department, full-time schedules are subject to change occasionally to meet the needs of patient admissions and referrals.

Education/Training:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Experience:
- One year inpatient med/surg RN experience preferred
- One year Psychiatric RN (inpatient or outpatient) experience preferred
Licensure/Certification:
- Current North Carolina State Registered Nurse License or Multistate License
- Current CPR Certification through the American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider Level
- CPI Certification (provided)
Knowledge and
Skills:
- Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
- Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.
- Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
