Job Title
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Palliative Care @ DRAH
Job SummaryThis is a full‑time professional position. This role will assist in providing Palliative Care Consultation to patients in the hospital setting, provide direct patient care on an ongoing basis, and work with the Director of Inpatient Palliative Medicine to educate hospital staff and community physicians about palliative care, pain and symptom management, communication around end‑of‑life decision making, and other Transitions Life Care programs.
ScheduleMonday‑Friday 8:30 am‑5:00 pm; weekends and holidays as needed/scheduled.
Responsibilities- Provide Palliative Care Consultation to patients in the hospital.
- Provide direct patient care on an ongoing basis as directed by and under the clinical supervision of the Director of Inpatient Palliative Medicine; utilizing pain and symptom management interventions based on established hospice and/or palliative care guidelines and standards.
- Attend IDG meetings as appropriate.
- Document in patient medical record to meet federal, state, regulatory, and agency guidelines.
- Educate hospital staff and consult with community physicians about palliative care pain, symptom management, communication around end‑of‑life decision making, and other Transitions Life Care programs.
- Assist in data collection, forms, and outcome evaluation tools for the Palliative Care Program as needed.
- Participate in on‑call rotation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Abides by regulatory requirements of the North Carolina Medical Board and Board of Nursing.
- Adheres to NHPCO Ethical Practices and the American Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics.
- Nurse Practitioner with current N.C. license.
- Preferred: 3 years clinical experience.
- Preferred: 2 years’ experience in hospice, palliative care and/or home health.
- Preferred: ACHPN certification.
- Maintain educational requirements to meet Nurse Practitioner standards.
- Knowledgeable about reimbursement sources, Medicare regulations, licensing laws, and accreditation standards.
- Computer skills preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Must have and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, automobile insurance coverage, and reliable transportation.
