Position Overview:
Director of Cardiovascular Services (DCS)
The DCS is tasked with providing comprehensive strategic and operational leadership across the Cardiovascular Service Line.
This position assumes accountability for the design and execution of innovative clinical programs aimed at optimizing patient outcomes while ensuring a high standard of cost-effective care throughout the care continuum.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary accountable leader for the Cardiovascular Services, overseeing all operational facets.
- Develop, deploy, and monitor a comprehensive strategic plan that encompasses ambulatory, acute, post-acute, and community care initiatives.
- Spearhead continuous improvements in clinical outcomes, cost efficiencies, and patient satisfaction metrics.
- Lead the assessment and implementation of new programs and innovations focused on enhancing quality and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with quality leadership to uphold accreditation standards and drive initiatives towards achieving a highly reliable organization.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration with other service line leaders, facility management, and system executives to ensure the delivery of consistent, patient‑centered care.
- Support recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies for providers and staff to foster a dynamic workforce.
- Ensure robust financial performance metrics for the Cardiovascular Service Line.
Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and hospital leadership to enhance care coordination, improve patient experience, and streamline service delivery.
Other Duties- Maintain a consistent attendance record and fulfill additional responsibilities as mandated.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop the perioperative nursing staff, promoting a culture grounded in teamwork and accountability.
- Oversee continuous staff education, competency evaluations, and adherence to clinical and patient safety protocols.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Active West Virginia RN license or eligibility for licensure.
- A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience within Cardiovascular Services is necessary.
- Proven expertise in leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering effective partnerships with surgeons and anesthesia providers.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required or to be obtained within a specified timeframe.
