Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Public Health Nurse to join its STI/HIV Prevention and Care team with our partner Public Health Department. This role plays a vital part in promoting sexual health, reducing transmission rates, and supporting individuals with education, testing, and treatment services.
As part of a collaborative clinic environment, you’ll provide compassionate, confidential care to diverse populations, helping clients navigate prevention, diagnosis, and ongoing management of sexually transmitted infections and HIV. Your work will directly impact community health outcomes and contribute to reducing stigma and barriers to care.
Ideal Candidate Profile- Licensed RN in North Carolina
- At least one year of professional nursing experience
- Strong interest or background in sexual health, infectious disease, or public health nursing
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced clinic setting with diverse populations
- Skilled in patient education, trauma‑informed care, and culturally sensitive communication
- ERRN (Enhanced Role Registered Nurse) certification lapsed or active it would be helpful for our HIV/STI clinic.
- Coordinate and deliver STI/HIV services, including testing, counseling, treatment, and education
- Interview patients and obtain comprehensive sexual health histories
- Provide risk‑reduction counseling and support for behavior change
- Administer medications and perform lab testing as allowed and needed
- Maintain and update program manuals, policies, procedures, and standing orders
- Assist in other clinics as needed (e.g., Immunizations, Adult Health, Communicable Disease)
- Follow up on abnormal findings and ensure timely referrals to specialty care
- Support public health emergency response efforts when needed
- Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers during procedures and patient care
