3 West – General Medicine

3 West is a 31‑bed general medicine unit. Every patient has at least one acute or chronic diagnosis, making medicine a diverse service line. Common conditions include acute infection with altered mental status, electrolyte imbalance with chronic renal failure, diabetes with a non‑healing wound, and GI bleeding on anticoagulants with a controlled cardiac arrhythmia. We work closely with the Hospitalist provider team to help our patients and their families establish the baseline skills and resources needed to reach the highest possible functional health.

Highlights:
We are expert acute‑care nurses with assessment, advocacy, and prioritization skills. Informal "nurse consults" are a unit culture phenomenon in which a no‑judgement patient condition discussion helps the team decide the best next steps. There is no better place to gain experience in disease management and how to identify its complications and progressions. The 3 West team is supported by an exceptionally engaged unit leadership team.

We offer online self‑scheduling, exceptional night and weekend shift differentials, and co‑worker input on unit‑based matters.

Summary

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
