Food Paradigm is a North Carolina-based nonprofit working to revolutionize school lunch programs. We empower children and families through real food education and help schools transition from ultra-processed meals to scratch-cooked nutrition systems that support health, learning, and equity.

Our Mission

We partner with schools to implement real-food meal programs grounded in evidence-based nutrition. Our goal is to improve student outcomes and inspire healthier food choices for life—building a new food paradigm rooted in dignity and access.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking passionate, hands-on leaders to join our working board. Board members play an active role in governance, fundraising, program strategy, and organizational growth
. This is a working board. Please come in prepared to manage your own time and contributions.

Responsibilities
  • Attending monthly virtual board meetings (4th Fridays @ 9AM EST)
  • Serving on committee(s):
    Development, Fundraising, Programs, Governance, etc.
  • Guiding strategy and organizational decision-making
  • Supporting fundraising and donor engagement including personal contributions
  • Helping plan and promote events
  • Being an informed and enthusiastic ambassador for our mission
Time Commitment

~20 hours/month or more if you are inclined

Ideal Candidates
  • Passionate about children’s health, food equity, and education
  • Action-oriented and collaborative
  • Willing to use time, networks, and skills in support of the mission
  • Comfortable with or open to learning fundraising
  • Professional or lived experience in areas such as: education, nutrition, public health, nonprofit leadership, community organizing, fundraising, or finance

Organization Snapshot
  • FY2025 Budget: $130K (3 pilot schools, ~1,000 students)
  • Meetings:
    Virtual (monthly) + 1 in-person annual meeting (Fall)
