SummaryThe Communications and Stakeholder Manager will serve as a key contributor to the NC Chamber's external engagement and communication efforts, with primary responsibility for leading and executing the organization's Federation communications and engagement strategy. This role will both manage existing communications efforts and help strengthen, refine, and expand the overall approach to statewide alignment. The position will also manage communications and marketing for Carolina Health Works.
This role will build and maintain strong relationships with local chambers across North Carolina, ensuring message alignment and providing day-to-day support that strengthens the Federation.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer who can also support select Government Affairs and Foundation communications, contributing to advocacy materials, member updates, research communications, and other content that advances organizational priorities. This individual is proactive, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where relationship-building, clarity of communication, and strategic execution are essential.
Responsibilities Federation Communications and Engagement- Manage, implement, and continually refine the NC Chamber's Federation communications and engagement strategy.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen statewide alignment, proposing improvements and new approaches to deepen local chamber engagement.
- Develop and distribute consistent, on‑brand content for Federation partners, including updates, toolkits, and messaging resources.
- Support the creation of scalable communication systems that increase efficiency and strengthen statewide alignment and engagement.
- Serve as the day‑to‑day liaison to local chambers, cultivating strong relationships and providing timely communication support.
- Support local chambers in amplifying NC Chamber priorities, research, and initiatives through tailored messaging and materials.
- Engage with the multi‑organizational Carolina Health Works team to manage communications and marketing for Carolina Health Works, ensuring clear, accessible messaging for chambers, small businesses, and additional key audiences.
- Develop written materials, marketing assets, and partner resources that strengthen understanding and adoption of Carolina Health Works.
- Coordinate internal and external communications related to program updates, milestones, and outreach campaigns.
- Provide writing and editing support to the Government Affairs team, including select advocacy materials, talking points, and legislative updates.
- Write and edit content in accordance with AP Style to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across all communications.
- Collaborate with the external affairs team to ensure integrated messaging across major initiatives and campaigns.
- Assist with event‑related communication and planning needs, including talking points, scripts, partner outreach, and onsite event support.
- Track and report engagement and partner feedback to inform ongoing strategy and strengthen statewide relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree and five to seven years of experience in a communications, marketing, or community relations role required.
- Familiarity with AP Style writing and experience with design tools, such as Canva, preferred.
- Excellent writing skills with a commitment to crafting a strong message.
- Creative and agile in suggesting and implementing new strategies, as well as abandoning existing practices that are no longer working.
- Attention to detail that does not get in the way of productivity.
- Marketing and social media savvy.
- Quick study.
- Enjoys working in a team.
- Inquisitive, with the ability to process new information.
- Familiarity with North Carolina's business landscape and/or a basic understanding of the state's legislative process, with interest in learning more.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple partner relationships with diplomacy, discretion, and professionalism.
- Exceptional listening and facilitation skills to support productive dialogue and problem‑solving among diverse stakeholders.
- Travel required for meetings or events within NC a few times a year; typically, no more than one night at a time.
