Description of Work
The Field Training Coordinator will indirectly supervise the Field Training Officers (FTO) and designated Facility Field Training Coordinators in the assigned geographic regions. This is not a direct reporting relationship but an oversight and guidance role to assist facilities with compliance in this specific program.
Key Duties
This position will provide technical oversight and direct the activities of facilities in relation to this specific program.
Position will be responsible for reviewing person-centered assessments of Field Training Officer’s (FTO’s) within the region to ensure that they are maintaining the integrity of the Field Training program in accordance with the mission and goals of the program.
Position will be responsible for communicating with facility heads and facility management teams about the needs of the facility and to gain insight into the successful coordination and completion of program goals carried out by the FTO’s assigned to this position.
Position will also be responsible for reporting program needs, equipment or budgetary needs to the Field Training Program Manager.
Communication of program development needs through on-site visits and assessments will also be reported to the Field Training Program Manager.
The Field Training Coordinator works with institution administrators and staff and must be up to date on operational policies, practices, standard operating procedures in areas of security, custody, program assignment, health services and food services.
This position will track all Correctional Officer Field Training (COFT) procedures for the assigned geographic regions.
Position will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling FTO training within the assigned regions.
The Field Training Coordinator will coordinate and conduct training of new FTO’s and will work with the FTO’s to ensure they are successful in conducting their duties in accordance with program guidelines.
The Field Training Coordinator will be a resource, advocate and disseminator of information for the FTO’s and facility administrators.
The Field Training Coordinator will work with the Region Directors and facility heads to meet program needs and projections.

Management Preferences
Demonstrated ability to express oneself effectively in oral and written form.
Considerable knowledge of the role of a Correctional Officer and current agency training standards, policies and procedures concerning inmate custody, care, and treatment.
Ability to research, plan, present, and extract such information to include a variety of statistical reports, documents, and training.
